Outdoor Adventure and Fun in Christchurch and Canterbury
When you want to experience a different type of thrill to those provided by Christchurch casino, Christchurch and the surrounding region have a number of different thrilling activities to keep that adrenalin pumping until you are ready for your next casino round.
Adrenalin Forest Christchurch
Just as the name suggests you should prepare yourself for a decent dose of adrenalin. Climb 20 meters into the tree tops, challenge yourself on the courses or enjoy the flying squirrel. An obstacle course built into the canopies, they start at 1 meter and climb as high as 20. You can test your balance on rickety swing bridges, crawl across nets, and slide on cables between the trees.
Swimming with the Hector Dolphins
An experience as exceptional as no deposit bingo sites, swimming with the wild Hector dolphins is a breath-taking experience. Hector dolphins are one of the smallest dolphin species, incredibly rare, and at Akaroa, you can jump into the crystal water and interact with these friendly mammals.
Rangitata White Water Rafting
A short journey from Christchurch, in the shadow of the Southern Alps, you’ll find a white-water adventure waiting for you. The calm waters at the beginning of the trip give way to some heart thumping grade 5 white water rapids, which you will navigate on the custom rafts. Dressed in life jackets and helmets for safety, once you are back on dry land safe and sound, you can enjoy some real local Canterbury BBQ.
Go Canyoning in Tui Canyon
An activity that combines, hiking, rappelling, cliff jumping and water slides, what’s not to enjoy. You’ll spend the day climbing, sliding and jumping through a series of water obstacles. You start the day with an induction and a series of small rappels, jumps and slides to get you ready for the bigger ones further along in the gorge.
Christchurch Gondola Rides
For a breath-taking view of the Southern Alps across the bay, small towns and sparkling harbour, the Christchurch Gondola is a must do when visiting. These small cable cars will carry you up the mountain side to the best vantage points from where you can view the beautiful New Zealand landscape.
Shop and Eat at Cashel Street Container Mall
Many of the businesses here were badly affected by the earth quakes, and have come together in what has become one of the area’s most vibey and atmospheric places to spend some time and some money. The Mall is made up of refurbished shipping containers, and you’ll find everything from fun cafes to boutique clothing stalls. There are also weekly markets and the atmosphere would be incomplete without a street performer or two.
Drive or Ride Along Arthurs Pass
A trip on Arthurs Pass is not only beautiful but adventurous as well. At its highest point the road is elevated to 900m which provides some amazing and vertigo inspiring views. The roadway itself is a series of twists, turns, and one-way bridges, which makes it a very exciting drive. If the driving is too intimidating for you, you can hop onto the Tranzalpine Train instead and enjoy a relaxing tour of this spectacular area.
