Caesars Windsor opened in 1994 as Casino Windsor and was rebranded under the Caesars name in 2008. It sits on the Detroit River directly across from downtown Detroit, a location that has always drawn a large share of cross-border visitors. It is one of Ontario’s longest-running and best-known gaming venues.

Caesars Windsor is in downtown Windsor, minutes from the Detroit–Windsor Tunnel and the Ambassador Bridge, which makes it highly accessible from Michigan. It is about a four-hour drive from Toronto.

Caesars Windsor has always depended heavily on visitors from Michigan and the wider US Midwest, and its trade tends to track the exchange rate and border conditions as much as the local economy. For American visitors the Canadian dollar often stretches further, and the Detroit crossing is one of the busiest on the continent. The Colosseum’s concert programme is a significant part of the pull, regularly drawing audiences across the border for a single show, with the gaming floor and two hotel towers built to hold that traffic for a full evening or weekend.
